Salute the Flag – Joyce Eliopoulos

Song – Bob Kaminer

Prayer – Vinny Frattura

Guests:

No guests and only three full tables plus the head table  (approx. 26 members present)

How you Doin’? was the phrase of the day as Doug tried to start the meeting and guess which table was still talking… no fines though.

Fines:   Anne & Ed had the pans

Late - Jack Hayes came in late and spun the wheel ($4) on his way to get some food just in time before it was taken away and Doug started the meeting.

New Car – Doug and Allan were walking over to the meeting since their ride was in Italy.  They saw what looked like a new black Mercedes that ended up parked in Scott C’s usual spot.  Scott paid the fine and threw John V. under the bus (also got a new car).

Cell Phone - Mario had a funky ringing cell phone but not sure if he paid a fine for it.

Pins & Badges – $2

Birthdays & Anniversaries – People who weren’t there and haven’t paid yet, Doug will get you next month

Trips – Joyce – Virginia & LA (that’s Los Angeles not Louisiana); Peter – Florida & Saratoga NY (some track there); Anne – was in Maine – does that count?  Still New England.  Bob K was in NC, SC, NJ, and briefly stopped by to see his mother on the way home (that wasn’t enough for her and she left a message to that effect).   Bob also had a college fight song on his phone that he played for us;  Dave (new guy) went white water rafting in Maine (still debate about NE vs. outside MA).  He offered that up and also offered up that even though Chuck G. introduced himself to him, he didn’t sign his book.

New Member Book – not signed by Chuck… fined.

Gift to Nobeoka

Doug is working with owner of company that makes Clippership Models to slightly modify a similar ship to look more like the Cashmere, which sank off coast of Japan.  Cost is approx. $800 plus shipping.

Upcoming Events:

Interact Meetings – E-mail went out and sign up sheet was at the meeting.  Two additional dates, 9/22 and 9/29 are also available.  It’s okay if more than one Rotarian is at a meeting.

Harvest Ball – 11/6 at the Elks.  Jimmy Buffet theme.  Details still being worked on.  I hear there may be a tailgate party in the parking lot beforehand.

Tufts Community Day – 9/26 – let Doug &/or Joyce know if you’d like to help out.  Or just stop by.

Golf Tournament – next week Friday 9/3 (no regular meeting that Thursday).  There will be a silent/live auction.  If you’re interested in bidding but not going, e-mail Bob K. what you want to bid and how high you’re willing to go.  He also needs a volunteer to bring the signs back to Signs by Kelly in Malden after the tournament.

District Wide 1 Pitch Softball Tournament – in Danvers 9/25 & 26.  Let Doug know if you are interested.  Not sure if you have to participate both days.

October 21 – District Governor here.  100% meeting

Final Inch Screenings – documentary about polio eradication – 10/19, 1pm at Senior Drop in Center; 10/25, 7pm at Medford Public Library.

Classification Talk:

Allan M. gave an interesting talk.

Raffle:  Bob K & Anne – no winners.
